2009 - A Year to Remember
2009 - A Year to Remember
Working for a cutting edge, small IT consulting company is as action packed as it gets. With below normal demands this past year for consulting services, not to mention the slashing of consulting rates and tightening vendor management policies, it has made for a challenging year. But I have to say…I love it! Sophic is run by a small management team (4 of us to be exact) and together we have experienced one of the most exciting years one could ever ask for. Being in the growth phase of the business lifecycle, 2009 has been the perfect opportunity for us in many respects. It has tested our skills as leaders, technologists, and business people. It has confirmed various mistakes, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement. It has proven our strengths, validated our models, and fostered new innovation. It has pressed us and tested us on all 4 quadrants of the balanced score card. It has not been easy. But I have to say, the results have been incredible - positive - and uplifting considering all factors. As we turn the corner for ‘10 we have managed to grow our headcount, increased our profits, and matured our offerings. We have grown as a team and further developed our core competencies. We have strengthened our leadership skills and confirmed our operating model. In a healthy market this might have taken five years. We have covered a lot of ground in 9 months and still have 3 on the books. We made the Fast 50 List again for the second year in a row! Kudos to the Sophic Team on this outstanding achievement. Well done!
